Our Marriage Policy

A Christian wedding ceremony is more than a legally binding contract, it is a commitment made by a man and a woman before God and to God. A wedding is the celebration of two becoming one in Jesus Christ. Dream City strives to make every Christian wedding a meaningful and memorable spiritual event. In order to protect the integrity of the covenant relationship and assist you with your wedding ceremony, planning and preparations are vital. Those who wish to be married at Dream City must be members or regular attendees and complete the requirements outlined in this policy.

TO BEGIN THE PROCESS

There is a required four month waiting period before the marriage ceremony is performed. This is to ensure adequate time for couples to complete the mandatory pre-marital classes. The classes are offered twice a year: September/October and February/March, times and dates vary.  The class runs 6 weeks and must be completed prior to your wedding date so we encourage you to plan accordingly.

To start the four month waiting period, please complete the Marriage Application and return the forms along with a $300 deposit to the church office (8433 West Center Rd. Omaha, NE 68124). After reviewing your application, you will meet with the Counseling Director and soon begin the mandatory pre-marital class. Upon completing this course, you will again meet with the Counseling Director, followed by a meeting with your preferred officiating Pastor.

The $300 deposit will reserve your wedding date on the church calendar and is applied to the total fees for services at Dream City Omaha. The remaining balance for fees will be due, in full, two weeks prior to the wedding. All payments should be made to Dream City Church Omaha (unless otherwise noted) and note on the check: “Wedding Fees”.  Please contact the church office at (402) 401-6233 to discuss further fees.

Upon receipt of your deposit, Marriage Application and Questionnaire, the Dream City Church office will notify the Wedding Coordinator and Marriage Ministry Leaders. They will contact you to begin planning for your wedding ceremony and to make arrangements to complete the required pre-marital counseling.

If you have a preference on the officiating Pastor, please notify the church office. The Officiating Pastor will contact you approximately two weeks prior to the ceremony to discuss the final wedding plans.

OTHER

Dream City Omaha does not have adequate facilities for wedding dinners, receptions or dances so these type of events will need to be held off-site.

There will be no Saturday weddings after 2:00pm or on any major holiday.

There will be no presence or use of tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, or illegal drugs on Dream City Church property.

There will be no throwing of rice on the property.

Use of candles must be approved by the Wedding Coordinator. Only flameless or dripless candles with proper spill trays and glass surrounds may be used.

All personal belongings, decorations, and rental items not owned or leased by Dream City Omaha must be removed immediately following the wedding. The custodians are only responsible for set-up and tear-down of Dream City Church property. Dream City Church is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.
