“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’” - Matthew 9:36-38
Our partnership with key partners in the Omaha Metro is how we make compassion for others a lifestyle, not an event. Join us on June 2 for our upcoming Compassion Night as we hear from three of our compassion partners: Westside Community Schools, Abide, and Nebraska 117.
Childcare is available for kindergarten and under, though we ask that you help us prepare by signing up.
Here’s more on how we can be involved:
Westside Community Schools
We partner with Westbrook Elementary to provide support and care for our community through our local school district. By pouring into our school district, we can reach those who are most vulnerable.
Our compassion toward the schools is demonstrated in very practical ways:
Prayer over the school, students, and staff
Volunteer for Family Engagement Night as a greeter, running check-in, or assisting kids at various stations.
Packing and creating care packages for substitute teachers
Assist teachers and classrooms by providing small prizes or snacks for students.
Give your time by reading to the children.
Abide Omaha
Abide is a faith-based, inner-city nonprofit, revitalizing the inner city one neighborhood at a time. The dream is one day, there would be no inner city in Omaha, and every person would have every opportunity to reach their God-given potential.
We can partner with Abide by:
Praying over the ministry.
Donating monetarily
Volunteering to clean neighborhoods during the May 11 Spring Clean Up Day.
Assist in the Back to School Block Party on August 10.
Nebraska 117
Nebraska 117’s mission is to equip, support, and provide rest so foster families thrive through Care Teams that provide support to foster families around Nebraska and counseling and emotional support for foster, adoptive, and biological families.
Nebraska 117 is seeking compassion partners who can:
Pray over the organization and families
Donate monetarily
Support a foster family by becoming a coordinator
Provide a meal
Assist in transporation
Dream City Omaha will host a training event for those wanting to partner with N117 and sponsor foster families on June 9 at the church immediately following our 11 a.m. service. Childcare will be available. Please sign up below.
