“5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” - Colossians 4:5-6 NIV
“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,” - 1 Peter 3:15 NIV
I was raised in church, and I jokingly tell people that I was born saved. I do remember being around six years old and deciding it was just good sense to get “saved” every Sunday, to make sure I was set for the week.
Fact is, I love being used by God. I love putting myself in positions where God has to show up, and seeing him come through every time! I’ve been to a Mardi Gras outreach three times, and I have gone out on the streets where I’ve seen people healed and set free from sin. I’ve gone to gay bars, street corners, even cruise ships, I love taking risks for Jesus, he has never ever let me down and always exceeds my expectations!
Having spent about 33 years in the church, I have learned a lot of “evangelism techniques.” I’ve seen the scripts, tapes, tracts, and everything in between to formulate evangelism, give us the key to success, proven methods to see even the darkest sinner saved! While these methods have certainly been effective, and thousands have come to know the Lord through such techniques; I think it overcomplicates something that should be so simple that every Christian—no matter what state of salvation they are in— is ready to do and should do every day. It’s so simple.
You just have to say, “God use me.” Test me in this! Say it and mean it. Say it when you walk into the grocery store, when you take the family out for dinner, when you go buy that new pair of shoes. Say, “God, I’m ready to be used by you. I’ll give it the time it needs. I’ll pay attention to everyone you bring my way. I am ready. Use me.”
I promise you, God will bring people to you that need to hear your exact story. You will want to know the Bible, you will want to pray more, it will change everything!
Being used by God is a gift. Sharing our faith, seeing the truth of the gospel click in a person’s eyes, tears welling, witnessing the Love of God fill up all the holes in their heart—what an honor! We get to play on the winning team!
Don’t let the enemy tell you you’re not good enough. Don’t let him lie to you and tell you that you have nothing to offer. Do you believe in God, has he proven himself true in your life? Then it’s time. Face this world fearlessly and say, “I’m ready God, use me.”
Father, light a fire in us! Remove the fear that tells us we aren’t good enough, and put our feet to motion, and our faith to action. Use us God! There are people in this world that we can reach, that we have influence over. Let us trust you. That if we truly let you lead us, and if we are avidly looking for the open doors for us to share our faith, it will never return void, it will always make a difference, and bring us so much joy and purpose in our lives! Thank you Lord. I’m ready! Use Me! I’m Ready! Use me! Back off Devil, I’m joining this fight!
